Focus word and theme verse for 2021

Posted in Articles

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters.

He restores my soul. (Psalm 23:1–3)

What does biblical restoration look like?

A dictionary definition of the word “restore” is to “return (someone or something) to a former condition, place, or position.”

For 2021, TWR Women of Hope has chosen restore as our word for the year. As we consider Psalm 23:1–3, the theme passage for the year, it reminds us that the Good Shepherd makes us lie down in green pastures, leads us beside still waters and restores our souls.

What does restoration look like for you in 2021? Are there places in your life where you feel God is making you lie down? Are there places God has led you to experience his still waters? How is he restoring your soul?

Even in the dark places in our lives, in our brokenness, we can have the light of Jesus that brings hope to a world filled with difficulty, division and hate. Don’t be afraid of the broken pieces in your life; it is only in the brokenness that the light of Jesus will shine through for the whole world to see (2 Cor. 4:6–10).

May we walk in God’s restoration knowing he will use our brokenness to shine his light of hope to a broken world (Ps. 34:18).
